About Crime
Is your attitude about crime one of feeling that it will never happen to you?
If so, you're not alone. Many people feel invincible. We hear of horrible offenses happening to others and many of them are so unthinkable that the only way we can cope is to believe it could never happen in our neighborhood, to our family, or even to anyone we know.
However, this is simply not true. Did you know ...
- every 2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted?
- one out of every four women is raped?
- the U.S. Department of Justice reports that 2,185 children are being reported missing each day?
- the FBI crime clock reports one murder every 34.5 minutes and one aggravated assault every 39.1 seconds?

In 2009, U.S. residents age 12 or older experienced approximately 20 million crimes. These findings from the National Crime Victimization Survey, published on the Bureau of Justice Statistics website, are upsetting, to say the least.
Fortunately, not all offenses are violent acts against a person. 15.6 million of the unlawful acts recorded in 2009 were property crimes. These include such things as arson, burglary, larsony/theft, and motor vehicle theft. But no matter which way you look at it, 20 million crimes in one year is a lot of offenses.
If you think crime won't affect you, think again. With these outrageous statistics, there is no doubt that you know numerous people who have been victims of unlawful acts. No one is immune to being a crime victim.
The goal of our website is to increase awareness of the many unlawful acts that are occurring in the world around us every second of every day. Words cannot express how passionate we, the writers of this website, are about raising awareness about abuse against children, atrocities against women, hate crimes, bullying, missing children, murder victims, rape victims, victims of drunk drivers, misconduct against the elderly …and SO much more. We are not attorneys, we are not police officers ..we are not law enforcement officials of any kind. We are just citizens who care about making our world a safer place in which to live.
We want all people to be aware of all the criminal acts that are going on in our world today and realize how much it affects everyone. By providing information and education about the many types of wrongdoing, we hope to give you the inspiration to help others, to learn how to prevent yourself and others from becoming a victim, and even how to make sure you don't commit a crime yourself.
As much as we would like to help every missing child and cover every criminal case, that, of course, is not possible. However, we will cover as much as we can and give you the most information possible.
